“The blend of mindful and focused movement is allowing me to listen to my body again. In just two sessions, through visualisation, along with careful use of the body, I am very encouraged by how much I am already able to release the tension and bracing that has become such a common daily feature for me”
Henry, hEDS client

Movement Therapy

Movement therapy is a versatile, safe method for first-time exercisers, those returning to exercise and those in chronic pain or with injury.

When working with clients, I adopt my Integral Movement Method which is my unique blend of Pilates, Biomechanics and Neuroscience.

The IMM is ideal for all types of rehabilitation. With my own personal experience of chronic pain and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, I have been able to work successfully with hundreds of clients to find solutions to manage and alleviate pain, fatigue and stress.

Every client who works with me will receive:

  • A full lifestyle analysis, where we delve deep into routines, balance, and current exercise practice.
  • A static and dynamic posture analysis will determine the type of programme you specifically need – a truly personalised and adaptable approach to your health and wellbeing.
  • Teachings on conscious breathing and meditation techniques that improve sleep quality and restfulness.

Movement Strategies for the Hypermobile Client

Hypermobility can go way beyond having flexibility. When working with this population, we as teachers and therapists need to be aware of possible other symptoms and conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Chronic Pain is often a feature in hypermobility cases too and this workshop will cover working with chronic pain clients.

This is an invaluable workshop for anyone working with clients in this specialist field. The material will be suitable for teachers, instructors, physiotherapists, osteopaths or anyone wanting a greater understanding of this condition.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Review the latest research and information relating to hypermobility and EDS
  • Acquire the knowledge & skills to work effectively and confidently with this population
  • Examine the physical, emotional & psychological aspects of hypermobility and chronic pain
  • Learn mat-based exercises & guidelines to work with confidence in this field

The workshop is 3 hours duration and is offered through Moss Pilates – the home of Polestar Pilates in the UK.
